MGH FIRST ER STORY

It is my first time in MGH ER. When I came here I was amazed by the care, facilities and the number of staff, docs and nurses attending to me. Everything seemed like it was going so quickly and fancy plus got a nice big ER room/space. I was telling Roshan how MGH ER is much better than NWH ER and all that. The doc who told us that we need to stay over said. "You got a nice big room". She said they are getting a room ready for me or that I might be in this space for the night. We felt like that room was good enough and we don’t need to go anywhere else coz usually when I go to NWH I'm in the ER space till they discharged me. After sometime, they moved me to one side and brought another patient in. They placed a flimsy screen between us. There was hardly any space for a doc or nurse to attend to me and the screen kept falling if anyone touched it🤦🏻‍♀️. It was so noisy and crowded with so many EMTs, Docs and nurses attending to the other patient. It felt like a general ward in Indian government hospital. We heard an EMT saying "Oh, this is the first time what a brilliant idea". We both started laughing 😆 Roshan was like "You always say Boston hospital and end up liking NWH better".

During my first pregnancy I used to tell him that I want to deliver in the best hospital in MA. Boston Hospitals looked fancy, big and obviously one of the bests in US. I was very sad when my obgyn told me that she only delivers in NWH. We did the hospital tours for NWH and Brighams. Took the tour of Brighams just/atleast to see inside. When we went to NWH Maternity, it had spacious rooms and was so quiet there whereas in Brighams it was so loud, tiny rooms and crowded there. When we were waiting in lobby of Brighams before the tour, I told Roshan see how big and fancy it is and all that. Only the lobby was nice everything else didn't seem good. It seemed like a place for high risk cases 🤦‍♀️ Still, half heartedly chose NWH but loved it there!!

Today's ER experince here was almost similar. Before they brought the other patient, I told Roshan "Wow, it is so nice here. Next time onwards I'm only coming here not NWH".

After they took me for scan and came even my room was gone and they had removed all our things. My bed was in the walkway very close to another sick patient and seemed like no one was even attending to us anymore. It was so funny coz we went from a big fancy room/experience to no room 😅.

Finally everything is good so far.....funny ER experience and first time being overnight

without pain or discomfort. Thank God 🙏 We were in the walkway only for a short time. Got a nice hospital room. Nurse said it is one of the smallest rooms but looks fancy, big and spacious to me plus love my view in the night 😍 Ravillae nokkumbol ariyam vella potta view aano ennu (will know if the morning if the view is bad!)😄.

Today morning, I saw this quote"Take One Day at a time or one moment at a time or even one hour at a time". Reminded me this "No one knows what our future holds so why even get there before it happens". So that's what I did today, enjoying the present moment. 🤩

Some pictures of the view from my hospital room, kids visited me in the hospital for the first time and Boston sunset.
